On December 13, LinkedIn shared its Emerging Jobs report devoted to the changes in the American job market this year. The profession of a blockchain developer was recognized to be the fastest growing jobs that have recently emerged in the US market.
The report was made on the basis of data received from Economic Graph. They have analyzed for what vacancies employees have been hired the most quickly, what skills are required for these jobs, and determined roles that have appeared for 5 recent years.
It was found out that blockchain developers have become more demanded by 33 times within a year, especially in such cities as NYC, San Francisco, and Atlanta. If to analyze the skills that are most demanded among the professionals, they include solidity, knowledge of blockchain tech, ETH, cryptocurrency, and Node.js.
Other jobs that have recently emerged in the market but have already taken leading positions include AI specialists (6 out of 15 jobs connected with this sphere), and machine learning engineers with the demand grown by 12 times this year. Other significant skills required by modern employers include deep machine learning, natural language processing, Apache Spark and tensorflow.
If to analyze the popularity for blockchain vacancies for the last years, in 2016, there were 645 vacancies that include such tags as “blockchain,” “Bitcoin,” or “cryptocurrency” posted on LinkedIn. In 2017, this number has grown up to 1,800, but at the end of spring 2018, their number has exceeded 4,500 positions. If to analyze the most recent data, the search engine of the platform provides links to over 13,500 records connected with blockchain and almost 2,500 ones tagged with cryptocurrency.
Another information about significant growth in popularity of blockchain positions was provided by Glassdoor website in August this year. American companies added 1,775 vacancies connected with blockchain technology and it was thrice more in comparison with the last year. The concentration of almost 80% of all these jobs is in 15 biggest US cities with NY and San Francisco taking leading positions in search of crypto specialists.
Facebook is also among social network platforms that show increase in the demand for jobs related to blockchain tech. Within 3 weeks, there were 5 vacancies added. Moreover, the following positions are described as challenging from the technical and intellectual side and having a significant global impact as well.
